Upcoming Virtual Mindfulness Workshop for Couples

Do you want to improve how you show up in your relationship? Have you felt drawn to explore a shared mindfulness practice with your partner? If so, join us for Mindfulness-Based Relationship Enhancement (MBRE), the first clinically studied mindfulness program designed for couples. Led by the developers of MBRE, this adaptation of the standard Kabat-Zinn Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) protocol is an instructor-led, virtual program that will help you enhance your relationships. Mindfulness-Based Relationship Enhancement has been shown in research trials to improve relationship satisfaction, autonomy, relatedness, closeness, and acceptance of one another.

What will I learn? Many of us know the benefits yoga and MBSR can bring to our minds and bodies yet have not had the opportunity to explore how these benefits can be applied to our relationships. Join Kimberly and Jim Carson in a series of sessions drawing from Yoga practices as well as Kabat-Zinn’s MBSR protocol to learn impactful exercises that can be integrated into your relationship and will reduce stress, improve relaxation, and help you further connect and accept each other. The workshop consists of both lectures and practice, so please wear comfortable clothes you can move in.

Who should attend? Mindful-Based Relationship Enhancement is for couples of any background (not limited by race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender identity, religion, etc.) who are not experiencing high levels of interpersonal distress. These easy mindfulness and yoga techniques are widely accessible, regardless of age or fitness level, and no previous yoga or mindfulness experience is required; all you need is a willingness to learn and participate. The program is also suitable for a deeper exploration and specific application of the interpersonal mindfulness practice skills introduced in MBSR.

How are the classes structured? The class structure will be a balance of practicing the various methods of mindfulness (individually and as a couple), group discussions concerning the application of mindfulness, and education regarding the connections between mindfulness, relationship functioning, and stress.

How much time and money will I spend? This live, online program is being held for two hours each week for eight weeks from Tuesday, January 10, 2023, to Tuesday, February 28, 2023, from 7 – 9 pm ET. You will be asked to not miss more than two (2) of the scheduled classes and commit to practicing these methods most days of the week, between 20 and 60 minutes each day.

This eight-week, online workshop is being held for two hours each week.
